Crystal Nicole: talks about her journey through life and how she plans on sharing who she is through her music
From singing at “Battle of the Bands” with her girl group “Ready or Not” to writing hit songs for artist such as Beyonce, Moinica, and Rhiana, just to name a few, this woman proves that her pen is definitely on fire. Crystal Nicole since the tender age of 3, as far as she can think back, has always had a fascination and passion for music. As the youngest child growing up in Decatur G.A. she was always around good soulful music thanks to her family of singers.
Early on in Crystal Nicole’s music career as a writer, Akon took interest in her that lead her to working with some artist such as “Chilli”, 1/3 of the group “TLC”, to the singer “Monica” who she had written a song for that didn’t get a spot on the album. She kept writing and writing to the point that years later she was able to write one of Monica’s greatest hits “Love all over me”. But don’t think that was her first hit. Her first number one hit was song by none other than “Mariah Carey”. Following shortly after, she was in high demand as a songwriter to write hits for artists such as Jlo, Natasha Bedingfield, Diddy-Dirty Money, Jennifer Hudson, and others that you here on your radios every day.
[blockquote]I think sincerity is what’s missing from the music industry. And honestly, people are too focused on trying to appear as something that they’re not. People don’t really pour their heart into music like they used to. Like “Sam Cooke” with “A change is gonna come”, you can tell what was going on in the world and that record was a soundtrack to life. We kind of stopped writing about whats going on in life and kind of started writing on whats going on in fantasies.[/blockquote]
Since that’s what Crystal Nicole feel is missing she definitely plan on bringing us more music that we can relate to while doing her best to be an influential and positive role model for her audience. “I do believe that music is made to inspire, to touch, and it can change a person’s life depending on what you do with that gift’’. She has more than just influence through music but through image as well. After loosing close to 100lbs and constantly hearing that she wasn’t pretty enough, she had more than enough strength through her faith in GOD to dig deep within herself to let go of emotional baggage. “Until you change that mental side of what you see in your own eyes, its not going to matter what anyone else says about you. I love both girls, I love the girl I was because I understand things a lot better because of who she was and I love the girl I am today. I needed both of them to really be able to see the beauty in me”.
Over a year ago I was able to throw together an event for a group of battered women with the help of friends and family. Crystal Nicole joined us in our efforts to celebrate the survival of domestic violence with these beautiful women. She smiled, she brought gifts, she spent time as well as blessed us all with a heart felt song that out of the whole song the only lyrics that stood out was “The beauty of a woman”. The beauty of a woman speaks in volume when as a child, such as myself, experiencing domestic violence in the home and growing to be the wonderful woman that she is. Having her mom as her inspiration and seeing her to survive domestic violence, Crystal Nicole is now the spokesperson for “The Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence”.
From the bottom and on her way to the top, Crystal Nicole has had the support from her husband of five years from the very beginning of her career. With a love so strong for him I can just imagine that big ol pretty smile she has when she speaks of him. “I was inspired by, of course my amazing husband and to be honest with you, GOD. The two combined with the “ill lay my life down for you” kind of love is what inspired me to write my song “Sundown”. “Sundown” is her newest single out and when I tell you it’s the truth, man is it the truth. You can buy it on itunes. From giving back to her community to paying her mom’s house off is a blessing to be able to bless others through love, through pain, through passion, and through the beautiful Crystal Nicole. Thank you for being you. I see ya shining girl. Keep doing your thang!
