Rasheeda of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta talks about: imbossy.com, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, and who she’d like to do a collaboration with…
“Love and Hip Hop”(Atlanta) caught most of our attention with its drama, messiness, but most of all ,the people that made the show a hit; its cast members. The world now knows her as Rasheeda from VH1’s “Love and Hip Hop”, but to us she’s Georgia’s own “Georgia Peach”.
Talking on the phone was such a pleasure with Rasheeeda. She was everything I expected and more. This young and beautiful young lady proves to the world that she’s more than just a pretty face and reality personality. She’s bossy, not like Kelis, but more like herself. Which lead us to discussing her online boutique called “Imbossy.com”. “Imbossy.com is my online store. Its has clothes and accessories, all kinds jewels and t-shirts with slogans from my music really cute, hot outfits, dresses, tops, bottoms; the whole shabang”. Rasheeda started this venture in the year of 2011 and said that it really has grown as a company every since. She plans on opening a store here in Atlanta soon to come. As an expansion of “Imbossy.com”, she plans on adding signature pieces to her collection that you can only get on her site or her store when she opens.
We talked about life after “Love and Hip Hop” and she said that its been really busy. [blockquote]Really when it boils down to life and careers and things that you’re trying to accomplish, your path is your path. I can’t look at anyone else’s path and be like that should be me. That should be this that should that because the Lord is gonna give me what Rasheeda is supposed to have.[/blockquote]
On the show to me she really didn’t display her music as much as her marriage/ manager relationship with her husband Frost. I guess that’s where the whole “Love and Hip Hop” thing came into play. We discussed her not teaming up with Deb (Waka Flaka’s mom) over her husband. “Its difficult because it’s hard to separate business and personal at times, but with us working together for so long we’ve learned how to overcome those obstacles and find a happy median here and there. It’s a joyful thing waking up knowing that someone’s got your back looking out for you like they’re looking out for their damn self and at the end of the day I didn’t want to make him feel uncomfortable although my intentions was to try to make the personal side of things work a little bit better”. She definitely loves her some Frost.
Rasheeda’s image is so natural and not as high maintenance as her fellow cast members that flaunt their butt shots and breast implants, in my opinion. I could relate to her as a person. She poses originality as well as grace. I told her that almost every other client that sits in my chair always asks my opinion about her hair being real. I personally know and believes that it’s real. She said that during a photo or video shoot she may add clip ins or a track or maybe two to add fullness so that she could have “big hair”. She’s all the way natural now after going through a two year transformation of leaving the relaxed hair alone. When we was seeing her rocking her braided mohawks and braids she said that her niece was the one doing it. Rasheeda explained that she’s not a big fan of the beauty salon so she just uses her “Mixed Chicks” products along with a little extra virgin olive oil and water to achieve her curly look without it being to dry. A stylist by the name of Dallas Collier out of buckhead is who she trust with her beautiful hair when getting a silk press. As far as her skin is concerned, she uses nothing but soap and cocoa butter for her beautiful flawless brown skin. “I don’t do all of that leaving on face mask and stuff, I just wash my face with soap and put on some cocoa butter afterwards, and that’s it; nothing else”.
After telling me that she’s a Kanye West fan and wouldn’t mind doing a collaboration with him, Jay Z, or Beyonce, we definitely know that shes no K Michelle fan and that she’s the only person on the show that she has a problem with. I asked her how did she feel about the whole Lyfe Jennings and K Michelle incident when K Michelle felt like Lyfe should be her opening act than the other way around. K Michelle allegedly walked out on a booked show that she was supposed to do with Lyfe Jennings because he wouldn’t open for her, she felt like she was the bigger artist. “To be honest I could care less, but to be honest with you I felt like she was wrong. I just did. People have to understand that that man’s struggle and him being locked up doesn’t take away his accomplishments in his music career, more than she has. Sometimes people have to push their egos to the side and don’t get twisted and caught up in their own hype. At the end of the day, if the people came to see you and they wanted to see you perform and didn’t want to watch him then they have their choice to stay or go. All that was a little too much”. I felt like that was a great response from her about that situation. She also stated that K Michelle just sits on the show talking about everybody because she’s insecure while Rasheeda is on there with real situations with her husband. Nuff said.
This mother of one, stepmom of four and grandparent of two plans to continue to work hard to leave behind a legacy and brand that will make her people proud. [blockquote]Set goals, go for them and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do what you want to do in life. Be an original person. Don’t let anyone try to push you in the wrong direction when you know in your heart it’s something that you’re trying to go after. Stay focused and try to be around people that are motivating and that are doing more than you. That way you can constantly be uplifted. When you surround yourself with people that are lazy and don’t have anything going on, that’s the kind of path that you may take. Life is about growing and living it and we only have one, so make the most of it and don’t let anyone try to knock you back. Get a relationship with GOD and stay focused.[/blockquote]
It was such a pleasure once again chatting with Rasheeda. I wish this young lady the best with all that she sets her self out to do.
